Saquish Rowing News
The 2009 Rowing Season for the Saquish Rowers is in full swing. With four teams competing in this years Snow Row it will be an impressive turn out for our organization with 27 rowers participating. Practicing for the upcoming February 28th Snow Row has had its challenging moments with frigid temperatures, iced in harbors and more than our fair share of snow which has forced rowers to get some of their workout, indoors. For all the rowers, time on the water is what can make or break this race. You can't prepare yourself for the wind, waves and temperature if you aren't out on the water. With two mens teams participating in the Snow Row, that in of itself will be worth watching. These teams want to win and come home with the ribbon. Veteran rower Tim Snow will have a mens group in the Mike Jenness and veteran rower/president Mike Jenness will have a mens team in the Saquish. Our womens team, rowing in the Interceptor, will strive to place first for the fourth consecutive year. We will also be sending out a mixed team in our 4 man coxed boat the Tucker. Two of our college students will pair up with two of our adult rowers and they too are hoping to have an impressive finish. With six weeks of practice under their belts and just two short weeks until race day, we wish our best to all of our rowers. We encourage everyone to come and watch and cheer on our teams as they participate in the biggest rowing event of the year. See you on the water.
